BioplasticsExcellence in colors

As bioplastics increasingly enter the mainstream of the plastics industry, this has also led to the need for new masterbatch products, specifically targeted at these new materials. Like any other plastic, bioplastics, too, require the use of colorants in order to enhance their appearance, as well as additives, to address inherent weaknesses in processability and physical properties.

Sustainable solutions

Granula has been quick to respond to the growing market demand for more sustainable solutions. We have developed technology to create new biobased color masterbatches, additives and compounds for injection molding and extrusion applications. Our biobased masterbatches are currently based for the most part on PLA and have found application in products such as PLA 3D printing filaments, and compostable coffee capsules (=link). However, our technology allows us to formulate these new products based on any bioplastic specified by the customer, including, for example, bio-PE.

Naturally better

We are in the process of obtaining DIN CERTCO and/or OK Compost certification for our new range of natural color pigments to provide customers whose specifications include biodegradability or compostability access to compliant color masterbatches. We can supply colors for PLA that have been pre-tested for compostability
