Caps & Closures

Challenge: Our client, a manufacturer of injection molded caps, was having problems with the occurrence of irregular color streaks. The color streaks appeared only when caps were produced on the newest production machines. The reason for this was unclear. Solving the problem was further complicated by the stringent requirements of brand owners, such as Coca-Cola or Nestle, regarding certain pigments, stipulating that these must be e.g. free of chlorine, heavy metals, etc.

Solution: Granula developed proprietary tooling and expertise to analyze the behavior of problematic colors during the injection molding process. This enabled us to develop a colored solution that produced no streaks, even at the highest injection pressures and shortest injection cycles, yet that featured fast cycle times and excellent shrinkage behavior and organoleptic properties.
